Beginning Knitting or Beginning Crochet—–Every Saturday!
From the completely inexperienced to experts of old needing a refresher course to beginners needing help on their first projects, this class is a rolling introduction to the basics. Sign up for as many sessions as you want or need. A scarf, hat, or felted bag make great beginner projects!

Private Lessons are always available! Knitting, Crochet, Spinning, and Needle Felting. $20/hr.
All classes except for Beginning Knitting and Beginning Crochet are from 6 – 8 pm.

KNITTING
Cables $30 + materials
Untangle this essential knitting technique by making a hat (original design by Tonya Wagner) or a scarf (the ever popular Irish Hiking Scarf). Both projects make wonderful gifts!

Fair Isle $45 + materials
Put a little color in your knitting. Learn how to knit using two colors, hold the yarn with two hands, and read a color chart. Make a hat or a pair of fingerless mitts.

Materials: 100 yards in two colors of worsted weight and US 7 or 8 16 inch and DPN (hat) OR 180 yards in two colors of fingering or sport weight yarn and US 0 and 2 DPN (mitts)
Hat and Mittens $45 + materials
The meat and potatoes of knitting, these simple projects are a great intro to knitting in the round. Purling isn’t even required! Knit your hat and mittens in worsted or chunky weight yarn, but learn how to use circular and double pointed needles either way.
Tuesday, October 19, 26, and November 2, 6-8 pm
Materials: 300 yards of worsted weight and US 8 needles, DPN and 16 in circular OR 200 yards of bulky weight and US 10.5 needles, DPN and 16 in circular.
Intarsia $30 + materials
Intarsia is a color work technique where blocks of colors are worked with separate balls of yarn, producing a single layer of fabric. Use our Fleur di Lis chart, or chart out your own.
Wednesday, October 20 and 27, 6-8 pm
Materials: 100 yards of worsted weight yarn in solid color, 50 yards of worsted weight yarn in contrasting color, US 8 needles. You will need more yarn if you are going to make your piece into a pillow or a bag!
Brioche $45 + materials
Brioche is an interesting textured ribbing that makes warm hats and subtle color variations. An interesting fact from the all knowing Wikipedia: “Brioche knitting may have originated in the Middle East. However, the term "brioche" seems to have derived from French slang for ‘mistake’.”

Entrelac $45 + materials
Entrelac is a knitting technique used to create a textured diamond pattern. Make a hat or a felted bag.
Friday, November 5, 12, and 19, 6-8 pm
Materials:
Bag: 400 yards of worsted weight yarn and US 10.5 24 inch circular needles.
Hat: 200 yards of worsted weight yarn and US 5 16 inch circular needles.
Beaded Knitting $45 + materials
Have you always wanted to try beaded knitting but were dissuaded by the instruction to string 100,000 seed beads onto your yarn? With this technique, you can add your beads as you go. So go ahead and make your knitting even more fabulous.

If you’ve dreamed about making a shawl—not one of those garter stitch prayer shawls, but a real honest-to-goodness lace shawl like the kind you imagine women in Eastern European villages wear—then this is your lace class.

Moebius $60 + materials
How can knitting be more complicated than it already is? Welcome to Cat Bordhi’s world! You will learn this technique and make an MC Escher shawl in the process. Her book Magical Knitting is a must for this class.

SOCKS
Basic Socks $45 + materials
If socks and double pointed needles have intimidated you in the past, now’s your chance to face your fears! These basic socks are knitted on larger needles out of worsted weight yarn, but you will still learn the fundamentals of sock construction. And if you still detest the double pointed, try knitting your socks on 2 sets of circular needles. Either way, your friends will be amazed!

Materials: 250 yards worsted weight yarn (preferably superwash wool)
US 8 DPN or 2 sets of circulars, at least 16 inch in length.
Toe Up Socks $45 + materials
Turn your sock knitting upside down. We’ll learn the Magic Cast on, short row heels, and how to knit on two sets of circulars.
Friday, October 15, 22, and 29, 6-8 pm
Materials: 100 grams of sock yarn, 2 sets of US 1 or 2 circular needles, at least 16 inches long.
Two at a Time Socks $60 + materials
Do you suffer from SSS (Second Sock Syndrome)? We have the cure: knit both socks at the same time. While you can’t use double pointed needles for this technique, this is a great reason to learn how to knit in the round with either two sets of circulars or the Magic Loop!

Materials: 100 grams of sock yarn, US 1 or 2 needle 40 inch needle circular needle.
Felted Slippers $45 + materials
Great for those cold winter nights, felted slippers use all the tricks of regular socks—knitting in the round, short rows, picking up stitches—but they are much faster. They also make fantastic holiday gifts!

Materials: US 15 needles and 300 yards of worsted weight wool.
SWEATERS
Top Down Sweater $75 + materials
If you’ve never made a sweater before, or you’ve tried to make a sweater in the past, but were intimidated by all that finishing work, this is the sweater for you! Top Down sweaters are easy to fit and adjust. Make one for yourself or make a few for the children or babies in your life.

Tomten $60 + materials
Knit in garter stitch and all in one piece, this Elizabeth Zimmerman classic is reminiscent of the Surprise Jacket. While we’ll be knitting a baby/child Tomten, all you have to do is change the gauge to adjust the size (and don’t worry, we’ll help you with the math—isn’t that one of the reasons why you take a class?)
Sunday, September 19, 26, October 3, and 10, 5-7 pm
Materials: Needles and yarn differ depending on which size you are making. Please ask us before the first day of class.
Six Week Sweater Class $75 + materials
Take the plunge and knit a sweater for yourself, or practice on the defenseless dogs and babies in your life. In any case, knit the sweater of your choice with the peace of mind that supervision provides. While basic knitting skills are required, you will learn how to read a pattern, adjust for gauge and size, increase and decrease, and a variety of finishing techniques.

Design Your Own Fair Isle Yoke Sweater $75 + materials
A pattern of multiple colors of your design stretching across hundreds of stitches, decreasing as you knit. (Hyperventilating yet? Then I won’t mention steeking, which is also an option if you want to make yours a cardigan.) In this class, you will learn how to plot your own sweater pattern and design your own color work, all with the peace of mind that supervision provides.
Sunday, October 17, 24 (skipping Halloween), November 7, 14, 21 (skipping Sunday after Thanksgiving), and December 5, 5-7 pm

Knit to Fit $75 + materials
Learn about gauge, sizing, shaping, and adjusting patterns to maximize style and fit, as well as the basics of sweater construction while making the St. James, an elegant top-down, short sleeved sweater. And did we mention that the class will be taught by the designer?
Monday, January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, and February 7, 6-8 pm
Materials: 660- 1100 yards of worsted weight yarn, US 7 32 inch circular needle, US 8 24 inch circular needle.
Fine Print: Classes must have a minimum of two students signed up to occur. If two people do not sign up for a class within twenty four hours of start time, the class will automatically be canceled. Classes are restricted to six people. To guarantee your spot in a class, you must provide a 50% deposit of the class fee. If classes are canceled, classes will be rescheduled or the class fees refunded. No refunds will be issued for missed classes. Knit Nook yarn must be used in all classes. Students receive a 10% discount on everything in the shop while enrolled in the class. This discount cannot be combined with any other discount. In the case of sales and sale yarn, the greater discount will be given.
